A Thanksgiving to Remember

Good Morning, Kittens.

Yesterday was certainly a full day (pun totally intended, yo). It started bright and early, as the neighbors and the lovely and talented, Ms. Clio Bluestocking, gathered at 7:25AM to drive to Bethesda for the 27th Annual Turkey Chase. Originally, we had planned to run the 10K, but -under my inspired leadership-, the entire group chickened (turkeyed?) out and ran the 2 Mile Fun Run.

The line to pickup packets was Crazy Long and made no sense. For the 2 mile run, there were two lines. One with bib numbers from 8000-10630 and the other for bib numbers 10631-10800. Do you see where there could be a potential problem with that system?

I, of course, had a bib number in the 10100 range. wo0-to-the-hoobity-hoo.

Here's a photo of the our group:

And here's the crowd, surging forth into the Wilds of Bethesda:

Once home, everyone showered and headed up to K-Factor's apartment for a delicious brunch. I invented a new cocktail, a riff on the Poinsettia (which, as I'm sure you know, is like a mimosa only it uses cranberry juice). I used equal parts champagne and cranberry juice plus a splash or two of my cinnamon-apple infused vodka. Tasty! And nothing says "Hangover in a Glass" like combining champagne and vodka.

After brunch, K-Factor, her BF, and her BF's BFF, came down to my place for a Gary Coleman Holiday Has-Beens Movie Spectacular. I made curried pumpkin bisque with cheddar (delicious) and we drank lots more.

Then, we headed over to Jeff and Vanessa's for a Real Thanksgiving Dinner and evening of 80s movies and games.

I crawled back home around 1AM. Totes *yawns* but an awesome time!

No other big plans for this weekend. Today, I'm going to rest, relax, and do a little cleaning. Might go out to the clubs tonight.

Have a great weekend! *smooches*

Wednesday is Friday and That Makes Me Happy

Good Morning, Kittens.

Am moving slowly this morning. I blame the weather (cold, dreary, drizzly) and the time (way too early).

Yesterday, I had my scheduled weekly chat with an Energy Guru regarding my plan for my job. Then, I met Mike (who Makes Cakes) for lunch in Eastern Market. I took a bit longer than the allowed 45 minutes. Oops. It was worth it though.

After work, I met Jerry at Nellie's for $1 vodka highballs. Hurrah! Christmas has exploded all over Nellie's. I'm all "too soon! too soon!" ... but, I guess, Christmas is rapidly approaching (as is Channukah, for my Jewish friends).

Remember, how when you were a kid and the holidays seemed to Take FOREVER to arrive? Now, I'm all like "wasn't it Xmas last month or something?"

ANYWAY, still no firm plans for Thanksgiving. I think the All-Pie Thanksgiving Spectacular will not be happening. I will probably be heading to Mike's (who Makes Cakes) for a Thanksgiving Potluck ... If I decide to leave the house at all.

I will also be running a Thanksgiving Morning 2 Mile Fun Run (along with the Lovely and Talented Ms. Clio and several of my neighbors). More on my T-giving plans later.

Happy "Friday"!!! *smooches*

Spelling is Fundamental

Good Morning, Kittens.

One more day 'til the weekend! Do you think we can make it?

Yesterday, I had to walk around the bowels of my building with some lead-based paint contractors (why, yes, my building is Chock Full of the Lead ... (and the asbestos ... and the mold ... and the radon ... and the formaldehyde)). While the LBP guys did their thing, I entertained myself by looking for spelling errors on various signs. Here are two fun examples of what I found:

How many mistakse can you find?

Weekend Update: Boozy Fun and Pottery Edition

Good Morning, Kittens.

And, another (thankfully short) work week begins. I think I can handle three days. We'll see ...

My weekend was rather uneventful. Friday night, I stayed in, watching movies and stuff. I crashed soon after 10PM (I think).

Saturday, I was up early and blobbed around the house. A lot. I did a few chores. Some knitting. But not much else. Around 4PM, Tomokito came down for Martini Time. Then, around 7:30, I left for a party for two of my neighbors in Capitol Hill. The party was fun. Nice people. Good times.

Sunday. Very hungover. Which is weird because I didn't drink all that much. Ugh. I don't think I ate enough though. sigh. AND, there was some stupid 10k going down the street at around 9AM with a Very Bad Cover Band Singing Bad Covers. Awful. Loud. And awful.

Once that stopped, I took a long nap on the sofa. Yay.

Around 3PM, K-Factor and I went to the pottery studio. I glazed my final 5 pieces and I picked up for finished ones. I still have 11 or 12 pieces to pick up in the next few weeks ... if the studio manager ever gets around to firing up the glaze kiln.

Here are some pix:

On the way home from the studio, K-Factor and I stopped by Trader Joe's where we bought (among other things) frozen pizza for dinner. Tomokito joined us in K-Factor's apartment to look at pictures from her (K-Factor's not Tomokito's) trip to Cambodia. We ate pizza. We drank beer.

Then, after Tomokito left, we sampled the Candy Corn Vodka with Ginger Beer:

It was very sweet. I think it would be better with a splash of lemon juice.

And, that was it. Have a great Monday! *smooches*

Good Morning, Kittens.

It's Friday! Hurrah. Plans for this weekend include: sleep, sleep, a little more sleep, and then some sleep. Also, I will be attending a baby party (not a shower, apparently) for my neighbors. I also have to go to the post office to pick up a package.

Last night, I had dinner with Isa and her husband. I met them at Matchbox in Chainatown after work. Fun times. We ate lots. We drank lots. And then I came home and went to bed.

Oh, I livez teh Exciting Life.

Have a great weekend! *smooches*

*yawn* *sniff*

Good Morning, Kittens.

Yesterday certainly was exciting! (*cough*)
There was a work-related field trip to some new construction. Then, when I got back, a co-worker, who has been going room-by-room through the building made a discovery, which could make my job about a GaBillion times easier. Hurrah. We shall see. I have to make some calls today to verify the discovery.

I know. I'm being vague, but I don't want to be dooced or anything.

After work, I met Mike (not the one Who Makes Cakes) for dinner. We went to the Banana Cafe in Eastern Market. I had the spinach and mushroom chili relleno. Yum. It was good to catch up.

I am still feeling a bit under the weather. Blah.

Tonight, I am meeting my college friend, Isa, and her husband for dinner. Not sure where we are going. I am very looking forward to sleeping this weekend.

Have a great day!

*smooches*

p.s. I'm going to San Diego for work in December (13-18). If you live in the area, let me know! Maybe we can meet up :-)

Cough with a Side of Hack

Good Morning, Kittens.

Am running a bit behind schedule, but I still have time for you, my luvvies.

Yesterday, as I was rushing around trying to get to the 6:30 bus which invariably arrives at the metro station just in time for me to watch my train leaving the station, I spilled coffee on my white shirt. GAH! Quick change time. Fortunately, I had another (previously worn) white shirt understudy waiting in the wings. Crisis averted.

Work was fine.

Except towards the end of the day I started to feel kind of crappy. Coughy. Icky. It got worse as I got home. I doped up on vitamin C, phoned in to the monthly Board meeting (what did we do before speakerphones?), ate some food, and hit the hay around 10:30.

Feeling a bit better this morning. We'll see what happens as the day wears on.

There's a field trip at work today (yay!). Then, I'm meeting my friend, Mike (not the one Who Makes Cakes, the one who was in Scotland for a couple years) for dinner.

I will totally miss my scheduled laundry time but it will be worth it.

Now, time to hit the shower and run around the house like a crazy person.
